Experience

Dr. Johnny McHugh is a Consultant Haematologist in Tallaght University Hospital and Naas General Hospital. He undertook research in the field of multiple myeloma in the Mater Hospital. He trained on the Irish Haematology specialist registrar programme and was appointed to his current post in 2010.

Achievements

Dr. McHugh has published in peer review journals on a diverse range of topics including myeloma, follicular lymphoma, B12 testing, coagulation screening and teicoplanin usage in haematological malignancy.

He has also developed guidelines for B12, folate and d-dimer testing for the National Laboratory Handbook.

He is the lead clinician for anticoagulation services in Tallaght University Hospital and the chair of the Hospital transfusion committee in Naas General Hospital.
