Tallaght Hospital as an employer of best practice ensures that all new, promoted, transferred, seconded, work experience students and JobBridge interns will receive an appropriate mandatory programme of induction on commencement of employment or transfer to a new area of work within the organisation. New employees will receive the necessary information to perform their duties to the highest standard possible within the Hospital.
As soon as you join your department you will have a local induction with your line manager. The departmental orientation provides:
- Appropriate information to new employees relevant to their own role and the work of their new departments, working arrangements, departmental health and safety arrangements, security etc. and for the line Manager it provides a framework to clearly communicate policies and procedures to employees.
The CLD at Tallaght Hospital, has a vast experience of providing cost effective educational and clinical competency based programmes from short in-service training courses to more advanced accredited courses at level 9, in partnership with third level institutions and awarding bodies such as QQI (Quality and Qualifications Ireland which incorporates FETAC). Patient focused clinical care needs are reflected in the development of education models that ensure versatile “Fit for Purpose” healthcare professionals.
The evolving roles of healthcare professionals and the constant development of new techniques and technologies, highlight the need for developing and updating of skills. The consequence is a need for formal education to ensure versatility and flexibility in the workforce. These factors also highlight the importance of synchronising education for healthcare on a partnership basis to ensure that education, training and research are responsive in a timely manner to the needs of patients.
It is the policy of Tallaght Hospital that all hospital employees receive identified mandatory training during the corporate induction programme. This ensures the safety and wellbeing of all our staff and patients and helps you to keep up to date with professional standards.
We offer a broad range of programmes to Hospital Staff and external participants.
eLearning is defined as “Learning that is achieved, supported and managed through the use of electronic information provision, services and systems”.
The CLD is actively involved in exploring and implementing the use of technology to enhance our programmes and teaching.
