Tallaght Hospital thanks the public as €11,900 is raised for its Stroke Services

June 26th 2015 – After a huge charity cycle, a stationary cycle fundraiser and the efforts of dozens of volunteers, €11,900 has been raised for Tallaght Hospital’s Stroke Services.

The first ever charity fundraising cycle for Tallaght Hospital saw 51 cyclists travel 99kms to Wexford on Saturday June 13th. Following the success of the event, an additional stationary cycling event was held in The Square on Saturday June 20th and received great community support, including from the South Dublin County Council Mayor, Fintan Warfield.

The positive staff and community feedback was warmly welcomed by all in Tallaght Hospital and Tallaght Hospital’s CEO, David Slevin stated “On behalf of Tallaght Hospital I want to thank all the participants, volunteers and contributors to this fundraising campaign for our Stroke Services. Their generosity, in terms of their time and donations, have shown the great respect and affinity there is for this vital service that provides treatment and rehabilitation supports to over 350 patients per year as well as to their families.

I was very pleased to participate in the charity cycle and I look forward to it becoming an annual event as we look to build on the goodwill and strong community links that Tallaght Hospital enjoys.
